Bormioli Rocco vulcanized rubber gaskets for an airtight seal; replacement gaskets for Fido jars (Airlock Fermenters).
Hand wash with hot water, no soap or chemicals. Store with gasket loose in the jar not stretched around the lid. Replace the rubber gasket if ferment turns mouldy. Bormioli Rocco suggest replacing gaskets before reusing the lid for canning, but our experience using these jars for fermentation doesn’t warrant this. We suggest replacing gaskets every 2-3 years to ensure an airtight seal or when mould grows in ferment. Mould spores cannot be washed away.
No not store fatty foods in the jar, as fat tends to adversely affect the rubber seal.
